Courtney Owen-Muir
Courtney Owen-Muir (Courtney OM) hails from Toronto, Canada and is a full-time dancer, choreographer and dance educator. Her professional training includes Ryerson University (BFA Dance program) and the Conteur Academy, a contemporary conservatory under the direction of Eryn Waltman, where she graduated in 2013. She has trained with such notables as Sidra Bell, Alexandra Wells, Gerri Houlihan, Abby Zbikowski, Shannon Gillen and Kate Hutter.
Her professional experience includes working with Code F.A.D Dance Company, The KT Collective and performing in BELLAN Performance Dance Theater’s show Birth of Existence, as a principal dancer. Courtney is currently working with Gaspard and Dancers.
As a choreographer, Courtney began producing work in 2014 at the annual SARUS festival in Wilmington, NC. Recognition for her choreographic works encouraged her to continue to produce work both locally and internationally. She recently travelled to Hawaii, Indiana, Toronto and Mexico to set new works. Courtney is continuing her choreographic pathway onto the debut of her new company OM grown dancers.
Courtney teaches in the Triangle and the Triad, focusing primarily on contemporary technique and modern classes.
