José Velasquez
José Velasquez is originally from Los Angeles CA. He relocated to Durham with his family at an early age and grew up in The Bull City! Mr. Velasquez has been teaching Hip Hop and Break Dancing for 15 years for Triangle area dance studios and across North Carolina. In 2019, he founded Soul Struck, a dance company whose primary mission is to educate members of the community about the history and culture of street dance through educational programs and to provide a space for dancers to practice and teach others. Mr. Velasquez is excited about joining the Ballet School faculty and looks forward to sharing his passion for hip-hop with Ballet School students.
